Meet The Artist
Jenny McGee
I studied printmaking at Bristol School of Art and am a member of Spike Print Studio. I am also a painter and exhibit regularly in and around Bristol.
I find printmaking processes a fantastic way of structuring and pacing thoughts, and am currently obsessed with collagraphs because for me the inking possibilities allow a more painterly approach, with really rich, textural and sometimes serendipitous prints being achieved. My work is mainly rooted in the landscape but absorbed sensory information and topographical detail serve only as a starting point and materials used can help to dictate the finished image. Colour and texture are strong motivators for me. Integrated into my image making is an ongoing exploration of rust and decay, with references to land or objects which have been disturbed, broken or changed by forces either man made or natural.
